Going someplace exotic or getting that sun-kissed skin are not always realistic summer plans. Although most people would gladly spend these hot, sunny days lying on the beach with a cocktail in hand, busy schedules and numerous appointments make this basically impossible. However, that doesn’t mean your summer should be all about work and no fun. Your body will function better emotionally and physically if you make time for yourself to relax and unwind. Here are several tips that will help you have relaxing summer fun and de-stress.

    Spend time outside

Spending more time outdoors can improve your mood and help you unwind. You don’t have to spend large chunks of time outside, just half an hour in the sun can improve your attitude. Play card games with your friends in the yard, do some gardening or just lay in the grass and watch the clouds roll by. Sun is the biggest source of Vitamin D which your body needs to function properly.

    Get enough sleep

This summer make a decision to make sleep your priority. Maybe sleeping doesn’t sound like much fun, but you need it to stay strong, focused, and healthy. Whether you will take naps on a lazy Sunday afternoon or sleep for an extra hour every night is up to you, just make sure you get plenty of ZZZs.

    Practice yoga

Yoga is known for its calming powers, so be sure to practice it this summer. You can sign up for a class or enjoy it at home. If possible, practice yoga outside, so you can expel anxious energy and soak in Vitamin D at the same time. There are plenty of YouTube videos that will help you understand the basic yoga positions and how they benefit you.

    Engage in your favourite activities

Even if you are not travelling anywhere this summer, find another way to relax and unwind. Making time for your favourite activities is one way to go. Therefore, read a book, watch a great TV show, go dancing, do arts and crafts, make your favourite meals, play in the dirt with your kids or do something entirely else that brings you joy and takes your mind off things. You can even try gambling online for fun. If you are looking for a legit betting site, check it out here.

    Watch a sunset

There is something spectacular about summer sunsets. Those incredible colours surely won’t leave you indifferent. Every now and then spend your evening laid back while watching the sunset and you will feel your batteries recharging.

    Play beach sports

If you live near an ocean, lake or river go to the beach with your friends and engage in some fun competition. Play volleyball, soccer, see who the fastest swimmer is, surf, or invent your own game. Engaging in physical activity combined with the outdoor setting and socialization will surely boost your mood and get those endorphins flowing.

    Turn off the electronics

How many hours a day do you spend aimlessly scrolling through Facebook or Instagram? In this day and age when we live attached to our phones, it is nice to free yourself from that constant background noise. While news can provoke your anxiety and altered photos can make you focused on your imperfections, all those statuses and links can bomb your brain with all kinds of unnecessary information. Therefore, take an hour, a day, or even a week to do a digital detox.

    Work out regularly

Of course, it is much easier to lay on the couch and pick up the remote than to lace your shoes and go for a run, but regular exercise will not only boost your mood and reduce your body fat but will also build your intelligence, improve breathing and boost your memory. During the summer there are so many opportunities for working out outdoors, so give them a shot.

This summer take time to truly unwind and unplug. It will help you become happier, bring balance into your life and recharge your batteries.
