Choosing the perfect shoe isn’t a decision to rush into.

Sure, it’s not as important as choosing your child’s name, for example, but your feet deserve a certain level of respect.

Whether it’s sports, performance, or leisure, PUMA often provides products of the same or better quality than competitors, for a lesser price.

That’s according to a recent review by US-based outlet KOIN News, which has broken down the process of choosing the shoe that best suits your need.

Firstly, you should consider the material:

PUMA shoes come in a few different combinations of materials. Soles are made from traditional or vulcanized rubber, biodegradable plastic foam or other similar synthetics.

The shoes’ uppers are usually either leather, canvas, synthetics or suede — one of PUMA’s classic trademark materials.

Most PUMA sneakers use standard lacing, but there are varieties available in slip-on, Velcro or its innovative Fit Intelligence self-lacing system.

When it comes to sizing, some shoes run more on the narrow side (like the retro Roma and Super Liga OG), making for a snugger fit.

    Then there’s usage:

PUMA makes shoes for a variety of purposes, from sports to training to everyday casual wear.

If you’re often found on the golf course, football field, or hardwood court, PUMA has a pair of performance-rated kicks for you.

On the other hand, if you’re looking for classy-casual or certified street-heat, you can find it in a pair of wildcats.

The brand has become famous for its running and training shoes, with the former first seen at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, and easy enough to spot on many competitors in Tokyo.

Lifestyle-wise, the most recognisable shoes in its collection are probably the Suede Classics and Romas.

Suede Classic sneakers debuted in 1968, and continue to be a staple in closets everywhere.

Complex says they will never go out of style:

To meet demand, the brand recently dropped new Suede colorways, including a frosty green hue with white stripes, an all-black design, and several other classic shades that are sure to stay relevant in the years to come. What, you ask, has made Suedes stand out for so long?

The answer is all in the materials. If you take good care of it, suede is durable and long lasting. As an added bonus, the thick soles ensure the footwear won’t fall apart.

Beyond being well-designed, PUMA Suedes are a versatile sneaker that can easily be dressed up or down. For these reasons and more, the shoes have successfully stayed relevant after all these years.

You can clean leather, synthetic, canvas, and nylon with mild soap and water.

If you’re rocking suede, keep them dry and clean with a special brush, using a soft cloth to wipe away smudges and dirt.

South Africans can shop the full range of PUMA goodies – shoes included – online.
