Meghan Markle turned 40 yesterday and we weren’t too sure how she was going to celebrate.
There were reports that she was either going to spend the time at home with family, whereas others suggested she was going to hire Oprah Winfrey’s personal party planner and throw a fancy soirée for 65 guests.
Now that the day has come and gone, the truth of the celebration is out.
Per Huff Post, the Duchess of Sussex celebrated turning 40 by launching a new initiative to help women re-entering the workforce, called 40×40.
The announcement came via a statement on her and Prince Harry’s charity website, Archewell, alongside an amusing video featuring Melissa McCarthy and a tiny bit of Harry.
The video sees the Bridesmaids star interrupt Meghan every time she tries to reveal her birthday idea, which includes mentions of matching “Besties Forever” tattoos, a Suits reunion, a yacht party, and “a lot of hat work”.
Eventually, Meghan managed to get a word in edgewise, revealing her mentorship project plan.
Watch through to the end to catch Harry being a goofball:
Besides McCarthy, Meghan has also brought other famous friends and mentors on board, including Amanda Gorman, Gloria Steinem, Adele, and Dr Ibram X. Kendi.
They will each be giving 40 minutes of their time to help women re-entering the workforce after the pandemic.
Hey, The Telegraph, looks like that’s how you “celebrate a milestone birthday when you’re a quasi-Royal Hollywood actress who purports to be fiendishly private but also has to keep up appearances with her gaggle of famous friends”.
