There’s a decent chance you don’t know who Sean Lock is.
That’s a real pity, as is the fact that the comedian passed away last week from cancer at the age of 58.
His death came out of the blue for the general public, because he really wasn’t the sort who would have wanted a big song and dance made over his final few months.
Along with a decades-long standup comedy touring career, Sean was perhaps best known for his recurring role as one of the team captains on 8 Out of 10 Cats, as well as 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
This joke, from an episode of the latter, does a good job of summing him up:

Here are Sean’s best moments from 8 Out of 10 Cats:
‘Rectum of the year’, from the 10:45 mark above, is pure magic.
He was also a regular on QI, so let’s enjoy some of those, too:
When Jimmy Carr tweeted this last week, he wouldn’t have been alone:
Brutal news about Sean Lock today.
I loved him. I’m watching clips of him right now – laughing & crying. I’ll miss him so much.— Jimmy Carr (@jimmycarr) August 18, 2021
You’ll be missed, Sean.
