Why You’re Almost Certain To Fail The #MilkCrateChallenge [Video]

There's a very solid reason, grounded in basic physics, why so many people end up taking a tumble in this challenge.

By now the Milk Crate Challenge has traversed most of the world, going from one person’s backyard to every corner of the world wide web.

It looks like something that should come with a “don’t try this at home” warning, but it doesn’t, and people are out there rising to the challenge like they’re James Bond or something.

The point, I guess, is that these milk crate towers look sturdy enough in a pyramid formation, but they are actually some of the most unstable structures out there.

Anyone who does manage to get over unscathed is an absolute beast, garnering extra street cred if they manage to do it with a ridiculous twist, like going over in heels or while rolling a doobie (watch those here).

But most people take ginger steps, held down by a fear of falling, and just need one more step with uneven weight distribution for their whole world to come toppling down.

See?

Sure, you can try the method of running over at a speed that won’t give the milk crates half a chance of falling, like the person below, but that’s not the smartest way to succeed.

Dr Nehemiah Mabry is an engineer who spoke to WIRED, providing some much-needed logic, along with a few tips and tricks for potentially not failing the challenge.

There are no guarantees, and if he understands what to do, but still won’t do it, then that’s perhaps the biggest hint to stay away from this one.

We’ll leave it to Mabry to explain more:
