Have you ever seen Live and Let Die, the 1973 Bond classic with Roger Moore as 007?
You may recall the famous boat chase scene where 007 outsmart everyone and makes a dramatic getaway.
It’s somewhat similar to what happened recently off the coast of Baja California Sur, a state on the Baja California Peninsula in northwest Mexico, except there was to be no getaway.
Sky News reports that the chase ended with three arrests and three tonnes of cocaine seized.
Footage shared by the Mexican Army shows the high-speed pursuit in the Pacific Ocean:
If you prefer your footage with some running commentary this should do the trick:
Tossing things overboard as the army circles is never a good look.
‘El Mencho’, mentioned in the above report, is a ruthless drug lord who has publicly stated that he will rather die fighting than be taken alive.
According to the Mexico Daily Post, the first action was carried out on February 14. The following day, an air unit belonging to the Mexican Navy detected a boat with three outboard motors and three crew members and pounced.
