Forget the destination when sailing the seas onboard luxury cruises, because the journey is where the real treat is at.

You may not want to walk around Antibes when you can stay in a cabin with cutting-edge technology and the luxury of a 24-hour butler service.

With such stunning cabins that have some of the most breathtaking views and encounters with dolphins and whales on a private terrace, why battle the crowds and things on land?

CNN put together a list of the most luxurious cabins on lavish cruise ships so that we can understand the basics of what it’s like to sail the high seas as a wealthy person.

The image you see up top is the Wintergarden Suite onboard the Seabourn Venture, with a voyage that start from $17 999 (around R270 000) per person:

Favorite amenities in the two-story suite include a heated jacket wardrobe that will keep your parka toasty prior to your arctic expedition and the Swarovski ATX Interior spotting scope, optimal for the best view of all the wildlife this ship will cruise alongside.

If you’re over the outside view, there’s a TV that appears with the touch of a button to allow for an uninterrupted viewing from the bed.

For something a little funkier, there’s the Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate Family Suite:

For a voyage onboard the Wonder of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, and Spectrum of the Seas, you’ll have to fork out from $19 000 per guest (around R286 000):

Perhaps the most fun you’ll ever have in the privacy of your own suite at sea, the Wonder of the Seas’ Ultimate Family Suite was built for all kids and kids at heart.

The two-story penthouse is a magical dream brought to life, filled with vibrant colors and amenities like your own in-suite slide, an air hockey table and an 85-inch 4K TV so large they refer to it as a cinema.

The most expensive is the Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Regent Suite:

It starts from a whopping $54 999 per person (around R828 000) for 412-square-metres of splendour and the most luxurious sleep experience ever at sea thanks to its $200 000 artisanal Hästens mattresses.

The mattress, which is more expensive than your stay, is made of layers of flax, horsetail hair, and cotton.

Shocking that there’s no gold or diamond pea in there.

Lastly, we’ll take a look at the Norwegian Cruise Line’s Premier Owner’s Suite which starts from $21 904 per person (around R330 000) for a voyage:

There are floor-to-ceiling windows across the 195-square-metre rooms, with a 76-square-metre balcony outside that has a jacuzzi, a four-seat dining table, and sun loungers.

We have to stop now because this is getting to be too much.
