Back in 2010, that was the rallying cry from then-Police Commissioner Bheki Cele to encourage South African Police Force members to strive for peak physical condition.
I’m not sure those words were ever heeded but perhaps a bigger worry is the ‘fat cat’ nature of this country’s politicians. They are the first to eat, especially regarding funds, and South Africans are gatvol.
A case in point is the reaction of a protester in Soweto this week, who used Mantashe’s girth to illustrate how out of touch our leaders have become.
Let’s not ever forget that Mantashe, our Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy and also the ANC’s national chairperson, once fell so hard for an April Fools’ Joke that he presented it at a Mining Down Under conference in Perth.
This is the level of competency we are dealing with.
Take it away, enraged protester:

Let that be a rallying cry for all South Africans. The ANC doesn’t care about you one iota. Stop voting for them.
Meanwhile, reports EWN, Mantashe is so out of touch that he thinks it’s the party’s internal power struggles that are causing it to unravel.
Warring factions within the ANC certainly don’t help but South Africans have watched politicians gorge themselves for long enough for all patience to have worn thin.
