Last time we checked, Trevor Noah had ended his seven-year run as host of The Daily Show and was moving on to his passion for stand-up comedy on all the world’s stages.

It’s been just three months but I guess the Saffa comedian missed TV so much, he’s jumping into hosting another show instead.

The Jozi boy will be paying tribute to his South-African roots, emceeing the country’s version of LOL: Last One Laughing, an Amazon Prime Video reality-TV franchise that pits comedians against each other for the last laugh.

LOL – a six-part, half-hour series that will have Noah pit 10 famous SA comedians and entertainers against each other in a competition to make each other laugh – will be Prime Video’s first South-African original production.

The idea is to break or eliminate each comedian one by one until just one winner is left standing, eligible to receive a grand prize of R1 million to donate to their charity of choice.

Yes, give our local charities the much-needed moneyyyyy:

“I’m excited to be back home to host Prime Video’s first South African Original, ‘LOL: Last One Laughing,’ and to have a chance to connect with my home audience,” Noah said in a statement. “I am equally delighted for the opportunity to be working alongside my fellow home-grown comedy stars on a show that not only entertains but gives back to the South African production and charity communities.”

LOL is coming to our local screens since being produced internationally and distributed by Prime Video:

The format was established with the 2016 show “Hitoshi Matsumoto Presents Documental,” and versions have since been developed for Germany, Australia, Nigeria, India, France, Spain, Iran, Albania, Argentina, the Netherlands, and Brazil.

Celebs like Jay Baruchel have hosted the Canada version, while Eugenio Derbez hosted for Mexico, and Rebel Wilson did her thing for Australia.

LOL: Last One Laughing — South Africa will launch on Prime Video in early 2024.

    We’ll be watching.
