A Celebrity Chef got called out for pandering to the rich after she documented creating a $ 2000 (R37 000) pizza on TikTok.
The posh pizza was ordered by a ‘celebrity client’, but with everyone being an influencer these days, that could be anyone, so Povo’s took aim at the ‘quirky‘ TikToking Celebrity Chef to vent their povo outrage.
“My celebrity client wants a $2,000 pizza appetizer for the dinner tonight, let’s go to Erewhon,” Baevsky says as she heads to the upscale supermarket chain only found in Los Angeles County, California. Only a starter pizza nogal.
It is rather outrageous really, and the ingredients are way more windgat than you’ve ever had in your cupboard.
Unless of course, you keep organic figs, adaptogenic mushroom powders, organic almonds, sprouted gluten-free flour blends, and two R500 bottles of Erewhon water in your kitchen. Didn’t think so.

Vegan pesto and 24-karat gold flakes seemed to set everyone who isn’t a celebrity off, and the shaming began.
“I need to know what monster requested this garbage flavored flatbread.”
“This pizza makes me want to tax the rich,”
“No shade to your job, but all I can think of is how many homeless people could be fed for the cost of a pizza!!”
“I’m a teacher and I eat ramen noodles because I can’t afford groceries until pay day. But slay.”
Hard to argue with a teacher in the midst of a ramen binge. In all fairness, the Celebrity Chef did seem to recognise the ridiculousness of the order, but an influencer/celebrity chef has to make a living.
What is even more ridiculous, is that you could buy 240 Rotherham Pizza’s from Butler’s for the same price. And even if you just want one, their prices are reasonable enough for even a schoolteacher.
Their pizza also doesn’t have liberal sprinkles of pretentiousness on it.
