The Springboks touched down in Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon for their much-anticipated test against Scotland this coming weekend.
The Boks had been on Channel Island, located just off the north-west coast of France, for a week and had a full training week to prepare for the game against Scotland, who are always a fun bunch to wrestle.
The Boks have their work cut out for them in the next few weeks, with both England (Saturday 16 November) and Wales (Saturday 23 November) queuing up to have a go at the World Champions. As prop Wilco Louw said, “It definitely feels real now”.
“We had a good training week in Jersey,” he said. “It offered us a great opportunity to align as a squad after everyone returned from their franchises and clubs, so we’re really excited about the week ahead here in Scotland.”

The Scots are coming off a 57-17 victory against Fiji on Saturday, so they’ll have a brave heart going into the test, but Louw and his teammates seem ready for the Castle Lager Outgoing Tour.
“We’re definitely where we want to be going to into the tour after having a chance to get on the same page and focus on the match,” said Louw.
“The last week was tough but good, and we’re in a good space. Everyone knows what our objectives are, which is important because it’s going to be a tough game against Scotland.”
The 30-year-old prop has himself been through a tough three years away from the national team, having to look on as Frans Malherbe, Vincent Koch, Trevor Nyakane and Thomas du Toit have all got opportunities at Test level.
Louw – who was named on the Boks’ standby list for the Castle Lager Incoming Series earlier this year – played the last of his 14 Tests in 2021 and is thrilled to be back in the squad.
“With all the experience in the group, it’s good to be on the field with all these legends.”
The players used Sunday and Monday to recover from their island training camp before beginning their on-field preparations for the encounter tomorrow (Tuesday).
The Springbok brains trust however have kept fans guessing and Rassie Erasmus is playing his cards close to his chest ahead of the showdown in Edinburgh.
While Rassie is optimistic that the Boks will finish the year on a positive note, especially after only losing two of their ten matches this season – both by one point – he knows that it would require a valiant effort from the team.
“We are under no illusions about the quality of the opposition we will face, and we have experienced first-hand how their home crowds lift them, much like our passionate supporters, so we know what it will take to be successful over there,” he said.
“Fortunately, we have a squad that believes in themselves and their abilities, and that will be vital as we enter these matches.”
Better start booking tables at your local for this Sunday, 10 November. The game starts at 18:10 SA time.
