The 27-year-old son of Norway’s crown princess not only has a striking resemblance to King Joffrey from Game of Thrones, but the apple that didn’t fall far for the convict tree seems to be eager to follow Pappa’s footsteps into prison.
Marius Borg Høibyhas been accused of a second rape, only days after being detained on suspicion of the same crime.
After a detention hearing at Oslo District Court on Wednesday for the first alleged offence, police prosecutor Andreas Kruszewski urged Høiby be detained in jail for two weeks since a second alleged rape was discovered.
Oslo police said in a statement to CNN on Thursday, “The reason for this request is that we have uncovered another rape case overnight and this morning. This was identified in the investigative material.”
“The case involves sexual activity, not intercourse, with a woman who was incapable of resisting the act. This means that we are now investigating two rape cases involving Marius Borg Høiby.”
Police said they are investigating the second alleged incident “thoroughly”.
According to Norway’s penal code, sexual assault of this kind carries a maximum prison term of 10 years, so Høiby might find his chickens coming home to roost.
Høiby’s attorney, Øyvind Bratlien, told the media that the prince will only be pleading guilty to one incident of bodily harm against his last girlfriend, criminal damage in her apartment and a threat. “For the other circumstances, he does not admit criminal guilt.”
Høiby was detained on Monday night for “sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act,” according to police.
They stated at the time that the charge involved performing a “sexual act without intercourse” on a victim who was “said to have been unable to resist the act.”
According to Hege Salomon, the first alleged victim is a woman in her 20s who did not know Høiby prior to the event.
Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon also weighed in, telling Norwegian media that the police and the judicial system must be given room to do their job.
“These are serious accusations that Marius is now facing. Today, we are of course thinking of all those affected.”
Høiby was born to Mette-Marit and convicted felon Morten Borg in 1997 before his mother married Crown Prince Haakon. This means Høiby is outside of the royal line of succession, so there will be no whipping boy for this one.
