China’s Pizza Hut has gone full foodie wildcard, topping a pizza pie with a deep-fried bullfrog.
David Henke, a global food trendwatcher and industry consultant (aka the guy who finds the internet’s weirdest eats), posted a snapshot of the frog-tastic creation on X/Twitter. The post showcased the limited-time speciality pizza, which seems to be hopping its way into the hearts—or stomachs—of adventurous diners.
“Per @Technomic Global Navigator,” Henke wrote, “in proof that other countries/cultures prefer different types of proteins, Pizza Hut is offering a pizza topped with a frog for a limited time in China—frog is trending.”
That’s right, frogs are trending.
The pizza itself is a thick-crust number with a red sauce base, a parsley garnish, and the pièce de résistance: a whole deep-fried bullfrog lounging on top. For added flair, two hard-boiled egg halves with black olives sit above the frog, creating “eyes” that stare straight into your culinary soul.
No word yet on how long this amphibian adventure will stick around, and Pizza Hut’s website isn’t spilling the tea. However, Korean outlet Maeil Business Newspaper reports the pizza is part of a collaboration with Dungeons & Dragons and has been christened “Goblin Pizza”—named after one of the game’s quirky characters. Because, obviously, when you think goblins, you think gourmet frogs.
Someone shared their experiences with the fascinating food:

And the reactions are priceless, per The Independent:
“This pizza is a felony,” one person commented on the post, while another asked: “Why ruin a pizza like that?”
A third more sympathetic person added: “I would not be mad if the pizza underneath the frog was passable.” Another joked: “You can ribbet this right into the garbage.”
One intrigued foodie suggested: “Yo fried frog legs are so good, maybe shred the frog leg meat next time and add it to the pizza that would be pretty good.”
“I’m more upset about the olives,” another person said.
While I don’t particularly like to yuck other people’s yum’s – there is a line. And I must agree, olives and eggs with fried frogs on pizza is probably a no-go.
It kinda makes you appreciate the classics all the more, though, am I right? Butler’s Pizza is to the rescue to right these wrongs!
Aaaah, that’s better.
As Cape Town’s number 1 pizza – no really, Kfm’s Best of The Cape said so – you are only ever in for a treat. To make matters even more tantalising, the ordering process is seamless, effortless and comes with some really good-looking delivery boys, or butlers if you must.
Head on over to the website, place your order through the integrated chat system, receive an SMS to pay and your dedicated Butler’s delivery person will be at your door with some hot, cheesy goodness in the time it takes to say ‘absolutely no fried frog, thanks’.
