Trevor Noah returned to host the 2025 Grammy Award ceremony for the fifth consecutive year to deliver some seriously funny and funnily serious statements about Donald Trump’s tariffs, the attack on immigrants, and quips about big celebs among so much more.

The former Daily Show host is the king of tasteful humour that makes everyone (even uptight celebs) giggle without landing up as another cancelled comedian.

On “music’s biggest night” – Sunday, February 2 in Los Angeles – Noah paid tribute to LA following the devastating wildfires before launching into some more hardcore political jokes.

“We’re gonna be honoring the best in music, as voted on by the 13,000 members of the Recording Academy and 20 million illegal immigrants,” Noah joked.

The South African comedian also took a shot at the Trump administration later in his monologue, saying, “There’s been a few changes in Washington. So I’m gonna enjoy tonight because this may be my last time I get to host anything in this country.”

He also name-dropped some other big celebs, like Beyoncé, saying she was scheduled to appear only to clarify; “Well, I hope she’ll be here. I can’t make her do anything. I’m just saying. I hope, if she doesn’t show up, we’ll just edit this out. It’s not live — it is, there’s nothing I can do.”

Noah also mentioned that Beyoncé had just announced her new tour, which was a fine opportunity to discuss some of Trump’s outlandish shenanigans.

“I will say though, Beyoncé, there’s tariffs,” Noah said, referencing President Donald Trump’s emerging trade war. “We can’t afford a new tour, right? Maple syrup is about to be $50.”

Noah also joked about The Beatles making history by being nominated for a song created by artificial intelligence (AI), saying “I think if they win this, this could open up a few doors for them. And who knows, through the power of AI, one day, we could even get another Rihanna album. Praise be Nvidia. You never know.”

He then squeezed in a quip about Shakira as “the greatest thing out of Colombia that isn’t a Class A felony” before softening his speech with a joke about Swift, who was nominated for six trophies at Sunday’s show—including Album of the Year, which she won for a record-setting fourth time at the 2024 Grammys.

“I’m just gonna say, Taylor,” he said, addressing the “Fortnight” songstress. “If you break Taylor’s record, you know, the Swifties are gonna come for you. You don’t want to mess with them, man—they’re like an army of Kendrick Lamars.”

While the full Grammys full video is not available in our country, you can catch snippets from all over the internet, such as Noah’s ever-so-tender opening monologue:

As Noah said to Lady Gaga, “I don’t know how you knew the theme of 2025 when you named your album (Mayhem),” but this comedian is doing a fine job of pointing out the pain and allowing some levity.

Good man, as always.
