Netflix Makes Interesting Call On The Future Of Meghan’s ‘Divisive’ Lifestyle Show

Despite brutal reviews that ranged from “cringe” to “cultural fossil,” the show drummed up enough controversy to make Netflix grin like a cat that just knocked over a royal teacup.

Netflix is doubling down on Meghan Markle—whether the critics like it or not.

The streamer confirmed on Friday that it has already wrapped filming on a second season of With Love, Meghan, the Duchess’s lifestyle show, and it’s set to air around September

The announcement comes after the first season, which dropped last week, sparked a global frenzy—though not exactly for the right reasons. Despite brutal reviews that ranged from “cringe” to “cultural fossil,” the show drummed up enough controversy to make Netflix grin like a cat that just knocked over a royal teacup.

A source quoted by The Sun put it bluntly: “This may raise a few eyebrows, but one thing Netflix loves is controversy—and this show certainly created a lot of debate.” Translation: the hate-watchers did their job.

Many thought the show’s scathing reception would sink any hope of a second season. But Netflix is clearly thriving on the chatter, confirming that with filming complete, there are no take-backsies now.

Not stopping there, Netflix also doubled down on its partnership with Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever, calling it a collection of “beautifully crafted essentials.” (Because nothing says “essential” like a duchess-curated tea towel.)

The brand, they claim, was developed over “years of home cooking and entertaining,” though critics might argue it was honed over years of strategic rebranding.

And those reviews? Ouch. Variety shredded the show as a “forced march,” where guests must pay the toll of endless Meghan praise just to sip tea in her picture-perfect TV kitchen. Time was equally unimpressed, saying Meghan’s brand of “authenticity” has morphed into a polished, robotic performance.

The Guardian gave the show a one-star review, saying, “It’s the lack of humour, irony, self-awareness and apprehension of the reality of this deeply unequal and apocalyptic world that makes With Love, Meghan so unlovable.”

Then there’s The Ankler’s Janice Min, who went straight for the jugular, describing the set as resembling “a mental institution for wealthy women” and the guests looking like they were in “a hostage situation.”

Brutal? Yes. Enough to stop the Meghan-Netflix train? Absolutely not.

Season two is coming, whether you like it or love to hate it.
