F1 teams and drivers should prepare for crazy hot conditions this weekend on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia for round five of the world championship.
The first and third practice sessions on Friday and Saturday will take place before the sun sets, and teams will be forced to contend with a sweltering 35°C. Even worse, track temperatures are expected to reach up to 60°C.
Track temperatures caused issues for the tyres in Bahrain recently; however, as the track surface is less abrasive compared to last week, it may offer some relief.
Racing365 reports that in addition to the hot track, dust could also pose a threat to the track surface as Jeddah’s location near the Arabian desert always presents the possibility for sand to be blown in the direction of the city.
Last year, Max Verstappen won the Saudi Arabian GP, but with the current problems with his Red Bull, repeating that feat represents a major challenge. McLaren, on the other hand, has so far proven the car to beat, winning three of the four grands prix to date, and Oscar Piastri two of the last three.
On Friday, there are two free practice sessions, followed by the final one on Saturday, with qualifying at 18:00 BST.
The race will start on Sunday, April 20, at 18:00 BST. About an hour and a half later, we should know who has won the fifth race of the season.
