Katy Perry has once again found herself in the crosshairs of the internet’s relentless sense of humour – this time thanks to some truly baffling dance moves that went viral after the kickoff of her Lifetimes Tour.
The 40-year-old pop star launched the international leg in Mexico City on Wednesday, but instead of a standing ovation, she got roasted online. Hard.
Fans (and probably some confused bystanders) couldn’t help but take aim at her choreography, or whatever that was, during her performance of ‘Part of Me’.
In a TikTok clip that’s doing the rounds, Perry rocks up in a space-age cone bra, thigh-high boots, and enough robot energy to short-circuit a Roomba. She struts, jerks, and then, because why not, drops to the floor like she’s about to challenge gravity itself, all while singing like it’s business as usual.

Cue the comment section, where users didn’t hold back, per The Independent.
“This is the worst choreography I have ever seen in my life,” one brutally honest critic declared.
“Yeah the choreography is something else, but why does she have a handheld mic and a headset mic,” another chimed in, clearly baffled by the double-mic mystery.
And perhaps the most savage take: “It’s giving school talent show.” Oof.
The internet wasn’t done dragging her just yet, because apparently, people paid actual money to witness this intergalactic dance-off.
“And paid good money for this……….. show,” someone clapped, possibly while crying into their bank statement.
“So shockingly bad,” another deadpanned.
“I just wanna know who choreographed this,” one user wrote, presumably to warn the others.
Still, Perry powered through. On opening night – yes, this was just night one – she zipped across the venue on a wire like a bedazzled NASA intern and even addressed her recent Blue Origin space jaunt. At one point, she pulled two fans in NASA gear up on stage and cracked, “I want these gentlemen to come on stage because they are dressed like my most current timeline.”
At least she’s in on the cosmic joke.
Earlier this month, she hopped aboard Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin flight alongside Lauren Sánchez, Gayle King, and a handful of high-profile passengers. The 11-minute ride was labelled everything from a vanity stunt to a “disgusting” billionaire fever dream by celebrities like Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, and Amy Schumer.
Perry, for her part, didn’t exactly keep it low-key. While in space, she held a daisy to the sky, sang ‘What a Wonderful World’, and upon returning to Earth, dropped to her knees, kissed the ground, and told the press she felt “super connected to love.”
Cue the collective eye roll.
But Katy’s not losing sleep over the memes. Instead, she posted a wholesome snap of her daughter’s lunchbox on Instagram, captioned: “Back to the best reality, packing school lunch,” complete with daisy and heart emojis.
Nothing like cutting strawberries into stars to bring you back down to Earth, huh?
