Police in the Western Cape are investigating the drowning of an elderly couple at the Cape Royal Yacht Club in Table Bay Harbour on Wednesday.
Spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut says police were called to the harbour shortly after 8 AM, after police divers discovered the bodies of a man and a woman in the water.
He says they are believed to be Polish nationals in their seventies.
According to the initial investigation, no foul play is suspected; however, a post-mortem will be conducted to confirm the cause of death. Colonel Traut says, however, that drowning is considered the most likely cause.
The identities of the deceased are being withheld pending formal identification and notifying the next of kin.
