Some Apple employees in French stores have voted to strike today, making sure they get maximum impact by timing their walkout to coincide with the French launch of the iPhone 5.
Earlier this week, we reported on the Samsung/Apple feud currently reaching new lows. It started with a series of Samsung print ads dissing the new iPhone 5. Not having it, Apple fanboys then responded with their own series of adverts – countering the arguments made in the Galaxy S3 ad. All eyes were on Samsung for their response to Apple’s response to Samsung’s response to the iPhone 5. And here it is: a new TV advert mocking fanboys waiting outside Apple stores whenever there is a new release. The tagline for the ad, referring to the Galaxy S3, reads: “The next big thing is already here.”
After the launch of the iPhone 5 last week, Samsung launched a print campaign mocking Apple’s products, employees and customers. They also used the opportunity to tout all the offerings of their own Galaxy S3 handset. Not having it, Apple fanboys immediately got to work on a response. Check it out inside.
It’s all happening so fast I might need a little lie down. Here they are, they first pictures of the iPhone 5. Click to see them. It’s the thinnest smartphone…. wait for it…. EVER!
Yip, that’s what we do for you at Groupon. We trawl through all the deals and find the ones that suit you! Because you (should) have an iPhone and you tend to struggle with battery life. Dan Chung is a photojournalist for the Guardian on assignment at the Olympics. Instead of lugging around a bag full of heavy, expensive equipment like everyone else, he’s using just his iPhone 4S and a few aftermarket attachments. The results have been amazing.

The iPhone design, like quite a few Apple products, is iconic, yet we hardly ever get a chance to see the development process that leads up to the product ending up on the market. Recent court documents reveal early design stages of both products.
You will have noticed that we haven’t given you one of these Groupon deals for a while. That’s because we only choose the products that we think will suit you. And this, my friends, will suit you. Especially if you (or a friend?) spends time in or near the water. Heck I might even get […]
Maybe it’s time to take yourself seriously. Maybe you have realised that your iPhone is taking better pictures than your SLR camera. Or maybe it is taking GOOD ENOUGH pictures and your SLR camera is overkill – not necessary for today’s online world. I mean, how many billboards do you expect to print from your […]
I give credit when credit is due, and this you have to hear. You see just last weekend I was chilling with The Muse at the Mount Nelson pool (anyone can chill there, as long as you use the Labrisa Spa first – locals get a 25% discount) and we were enjoying some scones and […]
Sigh. Another day, another round of iPhone 5 rumours. This week, the boards and assorted interweb nooks and crannies that concern themselves with such things have been getting themselves in a tizzy over images released by an Italian design firm that claims they have worked out what the much-anticipated iPhone 5 is going to look like. Check out these Florentine flights of fancy after the jump!
Getting behind the wheel of a car after having a drink or two is always risky – you may feel perfectly fine, able to do maths, whatever. But the moment you see a roadblock, you’re not too sure if you’ll pass the breathaliser. Why not check your blood/alcohol level using a new app for your iPhone, BreathalEyes?
In the December business quarter, Apple’s iPhone business generated $24,4 billion of revenue. Microsoft’s whole company, from Windows to Office to servers to Xbox, generated just $20,9 billion.

Hey Geronimo is a relatively unknown indie band in Australia, but they’ve been getting some global props as their latest music video goes viral. In the video for single “Why Don’t We Do Something?”, the band recreates some of iPhone’s most popular games in real life, including Angry Birds, Plants Vs. It flies so well, you will cry with joy as you make it hover inches from your friend’s […]
Julian Assange, our go-to-source for feeling concerned about privacy, was at a panel with the Bureau of Investigative Journalism yesterday. He informed the audience that iPhone, Blackberry and Gmail users are all “screwed” – that “the reality is that intelligence operations are selling right now mass surveillance systems for all those products.”
Samsung has had a rather clever dig at the iPhone with its Galaxy S2 smartphone. Having recently surpassed Apple in total worldwide smartphone shipments, the Samsung brand clearly has its eyes firmly set on furthering its handle on the US smartphone market. Spicy.

Ryan O’Connor chats to Gaynor McArthur of DigiCape to find out when the 4S will arrive in South Africa, how much we can expect to pay for it, and whether it […]
Breast cancer is a big deal. But recent studies show that many young women aren’t checking their breasts regularly. That is why the people behind the Rethink Breast Cancer campaign have launched a new iPhone App called “Your Man Reminder”. It gives woman regular reminders by a hot guy to check their breasts. And this advert they’ve made to promote it is an absolute must-see.
Apple’s Siri, the fancy voice-activated feature that was supposed to make people feel less disappointed about not getting a shiny new iPhone 5, was actually pretty cool when Phil Schiller showed it off on stage. But how well does it do in real life? See the hands-on after the jump.
In the aftermath of last Friday’s plane crash off the island of Robinson Crusoe, Chile, officials have stated that no effort would be spared in the rescue/recovery of the 17 passengers. This apparently includes using the Find My iPhone app to isolate the coordinates of one of the passenger’s last known whereabouts before the crash.
The device, which is due to be released shortly, was supposedly lost in a San Francisco tequila bar and then sold to Craigs List, an internet listings company. Apple engineers were reportedly franticly trying to get it back. Duh. This isn’t the first time a prototype has been ‘lost’, in April last year the iphone 4 was ‘found’ in a beer garden and sold to Gizmodo for $5000. Sneaky.
At least that’s what Mike and Jim at Research In Motion would have the industry believe. RIM is expected to launch several new BlackBerry devices today in a desperate effort to win back its market share, particularly in North America.
If you think that owning an iPhone is a waste of money, think again. An American company called Health Discovery Corporation has invented an app, called MelApp, that uses mathematical algorithms and image based pattern recognition technology, to detect early stage melanoma. What’s that? Can’t get an American iTunes account? Oh yes you can.
There is a lot you can do with an iPhone these days and there is a lot that Australians will do for a beer or two. Not too long ago those clever buggers even invented a pair of slip slops that could open a beer. Naturally, they have now merged their love of beer with their iPhones.
There has been a plethora of articles across the net relating to the World Health Organisation’s latest report on cellphones and their possible link to cancer. If you don’t look slightly deeper than the headlines you’d think that you’re literally frying your brain. So, should you ignore this video by Funny or Die as pure fiction? Yes, probably.
UPDATE: Blake’s rep have denied these images are real – more here. The first thing one feels when becoming a big star, is the overwhelming desire to photograph or film yourself nude or having sex. From there, the pics are “leaked” and the press publishes them. TV’s Gossip Girl actress, Blake Lively is the latest […]
A new iPhone game that’s been developed by a company from Boston, and that allows users to drive a truck full of immigrants through the desert while trying to prevent them from getting thrown out of the vehicle, has understandably been rejected by Apple Inc. The bigoted game can still be downloaded for PC’s and Mac’s though.
