Comprising 244 steps, the Rube Goldberg Machine made by a team from Perdue University in the US has smashed the record for the most complex Rube Goldberg Machine ever made. A Rube Goldberg machine is a contraption that is required to complete a very simple task in the most complicated manner possible. In this case the goal was to water a plant.
The “Rube Goldberg Machine” is named after a man called; you guessed it, Rube Goldberg. Rube was a reluctant engineer and cartoonist, who drew the most ridiculous devices that did the simplest of tasks.
Although he never actually built the devices he drew, he did inspire other people to do so. And now there are Rube Goldberg contests world-wide. Hell, I’ve even won one.
