Just Jinjer front man and close friend of 2oceansVibe, Ard Matthews, has embarked on a one month, two-man roadtrip with his dog, Jeff, from Cape Town to Durban, where he’ll reside in the comfort of a temperate climate, decent curry and warm, surfable waves, for at least six months. Ard is concentrating on writing and recording music with his mobile studio while on the road, and has termed his most recent track, Summer Long, his “break-up song”. So why is Ard leaving Cape Town? This, from his blog:
Now we have a full story: Sad muso leaves Cape Town with his faithful dog with an aim to put distance between himself and a recent hurt. A comforting warm ocean and childhood memories await in Durban. Will he write happier songs before he gets home? Well, uuh, yes, just listen to ‘Got Time’ and ‘Fire’ etc. I’m still happy. I’m still here.
