The Charmed Life Of Ronald Weasley

In confirmation of the rumour that you can't keep a good ginger down, Harry Potter author, JK Rowling, has admitted in an interview that she almost killed off Harry's bestie, Ron Weasley, early in the book saga.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda…

In confirmation of the rumour that you can’t put keep a good ginger down, Harry Potter author, JK Rowling, has admitted in an interview for a special feature on the forthcoming Deathly Hallows Part 2 DVD that she almost killed off Harry’s bestie, Ron Weasley, early in the book saga, because she wasn’t, quote, “in a very happy place”.

On the near smiting of Hogwart’s favourite ginge, she says:

Funnily enough, I planned from the start that none of them would die. Then midway through, which I think is a reflection of the fact that I wasn’t in a very happy place, I started thinking I might polish one of them off. Out of sheer spite…But I think in my absolute heart of heart of hearts, although I did seriously consider killing Ron, I wouldn’t have done it.

Bloody hell, woman! What a way to toy with our emotions! Fortunately, Rowling thought twice about offing Ron and… [Spoilers!] proceeded to kill off half the rest of the cast as the series drew to a climax.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 will be out on DVD early December.
