MP Throws Tear Gas At Speaker In Parliament

It seems we aren’t the only ones who had some action in parliament yesterday. South Korea's ruling party has ratified a controversial free trade deal with the United States. But just before they did that an opposition MP set off and threw a teargas device at the speaker, briefly clearing the chamber.

It seems we aren’t the only ones who had some action in parliament yesterday. South Korea’s ruling party has ratified a controversial free trade deal with the United States. Parliament voted 151 to 7 in favour of ratifying the landmark trade agreement in a surprise legislative session called by the ruling Grand National Party.

Not happy with this, some MP’s forced their way onto the parliamentary floor and a scuffle broke out – with lots of shouting and screaming for added value. Amid the confusion Kim Sung-dong, an opposition lawmaker, doused rivals with tear gas and also threw a canister at Chung Eui-hwa, the speaker.

Security guards hustled him out of the chamber as he shouted and tried to resist arrest.
