This Seems About As Close To A Jet-Pack As We’re Likely To Get

The first person to fly with a pair of jet-propelled wings, Yves “Jetman” Rossy, recently completed a flight over the Swiss Alps in formation with two jet planes. Wearing a pair of wings and four jet engines, Rossy jumped out of a helicopter and flew alongside the jets using his body movements to perform midair maneuvers. Follow link for video.

I don’t know anything at all about jets, but for those who do – the planes that Rossy flew alongside are L-39C Albatros jets – they and their pilots are part of the Breitling Jet Team, a civilian aerobatics crew.

Prior to this flight, Rossy had flown with two Boeing Stearman biplanes carrying the “Breitling Wingwalkers.”
