Julian Assange has found a way to run for the Upper House of the Australian Senate, in spite of, you know, being detained under house arrest in Britain. Which makes sense, I guess. Along with Assange’s candidacy, WikiLeaks announced on Twitter that they’ll be running a nominee against the current Prime Minister, Julia Gillard.
Feel free to join me in wearing a deeply puzzled expression. Because evidently we missed the part where WikiLeaks stopped being a crowd-funded whistle-blowing site and started being an Australian political platform for that guy who’s under house arrest for sexual assault. And facing extradition to Sweden.
Assange is presently appealing said extradition, the judgement on which should come down in a couple of days.
