With the likes of Mango Airlines launching in-flight wi-fi (they launched yesterday – well done guys!), South Africans will finally be able to tune-in to radio while flying through the sky! And by radio I am obviously referring to online radio – because you can’t get FM in the sky (you won’t on the ground soon either!). And with 2ov Radio already claiming first choice for deskbound online listeners, the same experience will be available in the air!
Mango Airlines have already confirmed that data-heavy downloads (like YouTube) and the like will not be permissable, which is fair enough. Luckily 2ov Radio only uses 20mb of data an HOUR, so it looks like your trips around SA will be quite entertaining! CLICK HERE for Mango Airlines full information on the service.
Especially with the likes of Bob Skinstad (Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm), Bailey Schneider (weekdays 2pm to 3pm + 2pm to 5pm on Tuesdays), Just Josie (Weekdays from 12pm to 2pm) and the rest keeping you company! And for the red-eye flights you’ll be able to tune into the smooth sounds of ex-5FM DJ Ian F (with co-host Spike) on our breakfast show weekdays 8am to 10am – coming to you LIVE from our new Johannesburg studios at Melrose Arch! But if you’re flying after 10am and you’re not with the kids, then be sure to check out the cheeky Hardiman vs. Williams show weekdays from 10am to 12pm with Richard Hardiman and Lindsay Williams.
Get your 2ov app for your Blackberry, iPhone and Android phones by pointing your browser (on your phone) to 2ov.fm and follow instructions from there.
If you have bluetooth in your car or an AUX jack you can even tune in to 2ov Radio in your car. Check out www.2ov.fm for more about that.
It’s no wonder 2ov Radio gets over 50,000 listeners an hour during peak times.
