The ANC policy conference came to a close this weekend, and what better way to do it than with a good old-fashioned fist fight? A few members of the North West delegation of the ANC got into a bit of an altercation on the final day, and things kinda escalated from there.
ANC spokesperson, Jackson Mthembu, said that as one of the North West delegates was addressing the session on Friday, when things got out of hand:
One of the delegates grabbed the [microphone] from that person and a scuffle ensued… a scuffle ensued between two or four people. It was a physical fight. All those involved will be subjected to disciplinary measures.
Mthembu said that the discipline will be handled by the party’s National Executive Committee. At least one delegate was kicked out of the conference, and at least five were found with false conference credentials.
The conference was held in order for the ANC to lay down policy on the road to Mangaung later this year.
