Paul McCartney, one of the last remaining Beatles, is pretty much as big as it gets when it comes to famous musicians. And accordingly, he can demand pretty much whatever he wants for stadium gigs. Surprising then, that he only earned a single pound for his stellar performance at the extravagant Olympic Opening Ceremony.
McCartney, along with many of the other famous performers, was only paid £1 for his performance in order to make his contract binding. It is believed that other performers, including Mike Oldfield, Dizzee Rascal and Emeli Sande also received a similarly nominal fee.
The flamboyant affair was viewed by over 42 million people worldwide and featured British music that spanned generations.
