  • This Is Why Your External Hard Drive Has Just Become Redundant

Anyone who values their data knows that regular backing up is good wisdom. If you back up your data regularly, the thinking goes that you’ll sidestep the bitter sting of fate when your PC succumbs to fire, theft, water damage, lightning, stray bullets, falling anvils – or even a good old fashioned crash.

And most of us who back up our data use external hard drives, without stopping to consider that a physical external hard drive is just as susceptible to calamity as a PC. It can be dropped, stolen, dunked in water, melted in a house fire, and suffer a full scale corruption.

And if that happens at the same time that you lose your data on your PC, it’s all gone. Forever.

    Seriously, it happens.

Cloud storage is an option, sure, but you can only use cloud storage for small backups. There isn’t a service on this green earth that can rival the space and portability of your averagely expensive external hard drive, right?

Actually, there is. There’s a service which offers 1,5 TERABYTES of cloud storage.

It’s called Snapdisk, and this is what it does.

Back up all of your data and sync your files between an unlimited number of devices (tablets, smart phones, Windows and Mac PCs).

Snapdisk gives you 1TB for backing up files and 500GB for synchronising files, That’s an UNBELIEVABLE 1,5TB of online storage.

Access to your data from anywhere via web and mobile.

All of that, for $9,95 per month. Your average corruptible external hard drive with 1,5TB space costs between R2000 and R3000. Oh, and you can schedule your backups to happen anytime you want. I’ve got uncapped broadband at home and have mine set for every night at midnight. It’s too easy!

Check out MySnapDisk.com for more info.

If you’re smart, and serious about protecting your data, media, and memories, this is a no brainer.
