Local Frog Species Squeaks Its Way To Internet Fame [VIDEO]

This Namaqua Rain Frog puffs up like a blowfish and squeals to scare away its predators. Unfortunately, the same behaviour attracts millions of humans keen to squeeze the cheek of this puffy little amphibian. If you can get past its unusual horizontal pupil and Pokemon-esque exterior and hold on long enough for the first squeak, you’ll have your heart stolen.

Dean Boshoff recorded this video while he was at Sandy Dunes in the Northern Cape of South Africa.

It hasn’t been confirmed whether or not the Namaqua Rain Frog served as the original inspiration for Axel F’s infinitely annoying, “Crazy Frog”.
