Low cost flying is set to make a come back when Skywise begins operations between OR Tambo International Airport and Cape Town International Airport in the latter part of this year.

Skywise is aiming to cut domestic flight costs by 20%, says Finance Director and former Founding Director of 1time, Glenn Orsmond. The airline company was granted an air service license on Monday and now needs to complete the process of acquiring an air operator certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority.

Skywise is headed by former 1time CEO Rodney James, as well as Glenn Orsmond, Michael Kaminski, Johan Borstlap and Wayne Duvenage.

In 20 years, 11 Airlines have failed in South Africa.
