WARNING: Some might find the following content disturbing. A child hostage situation in Oklahoma has resulted in a policeman shooting the suspect dead at point blank range. The surveillance footage released by police in Midwest City shows the suspect grabbing a little girl and holding a knife to her throat.
The suspect, Sammie Wallace, holds the child for half an hour while police negotiate with Wallace. Captain David Huff was only thinking of the child’s safety and acted accordingly, subsequently killing Wallace. The two-year-old girl was unharmed and returned to her mother.
Police Chief Brandon Clabes said:
Obviously, our goal was to talk him down to get him to release the child. I mean, we waited until the last second to use deadly force. No one wants to take a life, especially in the line of duty.
The incident took place on 17 June 2013 with Oklahoma County district attorney saying the actions of Captain Huff were justified.
