Meet ATLAS developed for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) by Boston Dynamics.
DARPA Robotics Challenge will use the robot to compete in the first physical competition of the Challenge in December 2013 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Head
28 hydraulically actuated joints with closed-loop position and for control
On-board real-time control computer
Electric power and network tether
On-board hydraulic pump and thermal management
Crash protection
Modular wrists
Head mounted sensor package with Light Detection and Ranging technology, stereo sensors, dedicated sensor electronics and perception algorithms.
The video shows the robot being put through a set of tests, and it is very impressive.
