If you thought seeing the royal baby was the last of this crazy worldwide phenomenon, then you were sorely mistaken.

Enter the bookies. As a result of the speculation around what the newborn’s name will be, and the general British obsession with the royal family, thousands of Brits are placing bets on which names they think will be chosen. CNN has apparently estimated that there are over R175 million worth of bets on what the name will be.

    Alex Donohue, company spokesman:

[The] public rushed to put small amounts of money, such as a pound, on the royal infant’s name because they want to be involved.

This is the list of betting odds from Ladbrokes according to the National Post. “George” has become the favourite with 2/1 odds on the name as an ode to Prince William’s great-grandfather, King George VI.

Even the time limit of the announcement of the name has been used to glean some extra pounds. It took around a week for Charles and Di to announce William’s name, “but for those who think we could be waiting a week like William’s announcement can take odds of 3/1.”

So here they are the odds you’ve been looking for, we might even have a Prince George Michael on our hands, that would be memorable? Note: “North” comes in at the bottom with 5000/1 after “Psy.”
