What a boytjie! Chad le Clos has set a new world record for the men’s 200m butterfly while competing in the Swimming World Cup challenge in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. Chad beat the famous American swimmer, Michael Phelps in London’s Olympics last year (also in the 200m butterfly) to take home a shiny gold medal and achieve hero-status and free beers all over South Africa.
The previous record stood at 1:49:11 and Chad was able to swim the distance in 1:49:04, klapping the record by 7 split-seconds, putting another South African name on the record books. We can’t wait to see what he does in the next Olympics to be held in Rio, Brazil, in 2016.
Well done Chad, we’re proud of you!
