Say hello to WildCat, the quadrupedal robot created by the collective brains at Boston Dynamics. See WildCat run. Imagine WildCat running after you. The robot can reach speeds of close to 26km/hr, which is without a doubt faster than I can run on a Monday morning.
But that’s not all! The robot is also capable of standing and running freely under its own power. The Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has been funding the project and has requested that Boston Dynamics create some more robots with some pretty radical advancements. We’re talking stealth robots, bullet-proof robots, robots that are bigger, stronger and faster than the one you see above.
Prepare for the age of the machines. Most of us wouldn’t stand a chance against stealthy, bulletproof robots galloping towards us with M16s strapped to their backs.
