Reports abound that the new Call Of Duty game, ‘Ghosts’ could mark the beginning of the end for the massive franchise. COD has broken countless records, raked in tons of cash, and changed gaming forever – but its new installment is failing to impress.
Activision has come clean and confirmed that ‘COD: Ghosts’, did not sell as well as its predecessor. Sales figures are down, and reviews are going down along with them. In the past, every single COD game received an average rating of at least 82, and no Infinity Ward-developed game has dipped below an 88.
‘Ghosts’ is currently rated at 74.
So, what happened? Apparently, Infinity Ward have attempted a new timeline in the plot for the first time since the original ‘Modern Warfare’. This has apparently made the plot really, really average and dull. The narrative is predictable, the options in online play have decreased, and the Zombie apocalypse add-on game has been replaced with an alien apocalypse game.
And apparently there’s a cliffhanger at the end of ‘Ghosts’ – which would suggest the production of a ‘Ghosts 2’ game in 2015. Let’s hope they can keep it together long enough not to become a joke.
