10 Interesting (And Weird) Facts About Finland

Finland, to a whole lot of people, is a lot like Middle Earth: you know it’s there, you’re aware of some of the ins and outs but really, you don’t know that much.

In fact, you’ll probably find a whole lot more people know the weird and wacky of Middle Earth than they do Finland.

  6. There is a heavy metal band for children in Finland. No lies – the band’s name is Hevisaurus.
  7. There is an International Day of Failure in Finland. This is not an invitation to deliberately bail off your skateboard, though.
  8. They discovered a 5000 year old piece of chewing gum in Finland. You’re forgiven for just notching that one up to ‘life experience’.
  9. Finland is basically a lake. There are 187 888 lakes larger than 500m2. Basically a lake.
  10. As if you needed more motivation, there is soon to be an Angry Birds theme park in Finland. Basically, we’re done here.
