As per usual, no South Africans appear in the top 10 on Forbes’ list of highest paid athletes. However, the list is pretty enlightening.
Coming in at number 10 is the American Footballer, Matt Ryan (although his total earnings have since been surpassed, he is no longer on that list).
Number 9 is everyone’s favourite tennis stud, Rafael Nadal. He is quite excited…
Number 8 is golfer Phil Mickelson, and edging ahead of his rival Roger Federer slides in at number 7.
Tiger Woods nabbed the number 6 spot with Kobe Bryant and Lionel Messi at numbers 5 and 4 respectively.
Getting into the podium position: LeBron James claimed bronze just several million behind Cristiano Ronaldo who narrowly missed out on the number one spot.
And, drum roll please…. earning over $100million (and being only the second athlete to do so after Tiger Woods) is….
…Mr Floyd “Money” Mayweather himself! Congratulations are in order: earning AT LEAST $25 Million per rumble since 2007.
You can read more about all of these top achievers, especially Floyd, here.
