Alongside the grace and beauty that the Tour de France always brings, an epic crash always seems to follow.
British rider Mark Cavendish was one of the unlucky cyclists that went down in the opening stage of the race, injuring his collarbone which left him unable to continue riding.
Cavendish collided with Australian champion Simon Gerrans, who also looked in a great deal of pain on the ground.
