They Found This Dinosaur That Weights 7 Times T-Rex

A massive dinosaur has been excavated in Patagonia. Measuring in at 12 times the size of an elephant, he could have trodden on T-Rex whilst looking for some fresh leaves to snack on, and not even noticed.

Dreadnoughtus. You don’t want to bump into him in a dark alleyway.

Presumed to weigh in at almost 60 tons, and longer than the length of a primary school swimming pool, it will be interesting to see how toy manufacturers interpret the T-Rex/Dreadnoughtus ratio.

“A unique haul of bones includes a metre-wide neck vertebra, a thigh bone that stands as tall as a man, and ribs the size of planks..”

The skeleton was found in South America, near the southern tip, where, 77 million years ago, icy Patagonia would have been a temperate forest climate.

Basically, this guy was huge.

Kenneth Lacovara first caught sight of the skeleton in 2005, on a field trip. He has spent the last year living in a tent, next to Dreadnoughtus.
