Longest Imprisonment Error In US History – This Guy Has Been Set Free After 39 Years For A Murder He Didn’t Commit

There's not much worse than being blamed for something you didn't do, but imagine being locked away for 39 years when you are innocent. This is the stuff of nightmares.

Oh my god, imagine going to prison for 39 years for something that you DID NOT DO.

That’s what happened to Ricky Jackson in Ohio, USA. Sentenced in 1975 for apparently killing a man, it has taken the dedication of the Innocence Project Ohio and months of research to prove that Ricky is an innocent man.

The judgement was based on the words of Ed Vernon, the 12-year old witness, who changed his story numerous times, and it resulted in the wrongful imprisonment.

The big break finally came when Vernon signed an affidavit saying he made the whole thing up.

Watch the moment when the judge tells Ricky he is a free man. It’s humbling.
