No Ways – Apparently Coco Chanel Spied For The Nazis

The queen of fashion and scent, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, had another pastime whilst she worked on her perfumes – being a spy for the Nazis. Who would have thunk? Definitely something interesting to add to high school history lessons.

This will in no way influence my love for Chanel’s perfumes or adverts.

Strong rumours suggest that Coco was in fact a spy for the Nazi’s during World War II. The designer had numerous affairs with “high ranking Nazis, including senior Gestapo officer Baron Hans Gunther von Dincklage”.

France 3 (a TV channel) aired a documentary called L’Ombre d’un Doute, telling of the story.

Documents locked away in France’s Ministry of Defence archives since the war proved that the glamorous socialite worked directly for German military intelligence.

Coco allegedly had the codename “Westminster” (because she had had an affair with the Duke of Westminster), and had the “Abwehr (Adolf Hitler’s secret military intelligence agency) number F-7124”.
