After almost a week since the horrific murders at De Zalze, Henri van Breda, the younger son, was taken back to the crime scene by police yesterday. It is unclear at the moment the reasoning behind the visit to the house.

The audio clip of Henri calling emergency services has also been made public. The call included Henri saying “My… my family and me were attacked… by a guy with an axe”. The operator then asked if they were unconscious, to which Henri replied “Yes, and bleeding from the head”. You can listen to the audio HERE.

Have a careful listen after he says “bleeding from the head” – sounds to us like there is a little snigger/laugh from Henri.

There is also a history of concerns about Henri’s health. Last year he wanted to go to Canada, but couldn’t go due to unspecified health reasons, and his family apparently sent him for a brain scan whilst still living in Aus. A domestic worker from De Zalze has also come forward, saying that she thinks Henri could have been using drugs when an altercation between the two happened in Stellenbosch last year.

The younger sister, Marli, is still in the MediClinic in Stellenbosch, and is finally in a stable condition. She was found with a major head wound and bleeding from her jugular.

There have still been no arrests made, and Col Tembinkosi Kinana from the SAPS “declined to disclose how the family was killed, or a possible motive”. With De Zalze’s security so tight, people are speculating that the murders were an inside job, with some rumours that it was Henri. De Zalze has said that there were no security breaches along the 8km fencing that secures the estate, and that the family received no visitors on Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Hopefully the truth will come when Marli wakes up.
