Not many men will be adverse to the Free the Nipple movement that is starting to gain momentum around the world, but what is it actually, and how many WAGs will be signing up?
Free the Nipple was started by 29-year old Lina Esco in a bid to “empower women across the world by standing against female oppression and censorship”.
I want to publicise the nipple, using it as a tool to start a dialogue about issues relating to inequality facing women around the world. I want to use the nipple as a symbol of liberation.
In the US, it is illegal in most states to be seen topless in public. Louisiana State can send a woman to prison for three years for a nip-slip.
It comes closer to home, too. In South Africa it is “illegal to expose female breasts in public, according to the Criminal Law (sexual offense and related matters) Amendment Act 32 of 2007”.
The good news is that the times are changing slightly.
Lina managed to raise $1million to make a film, called Free the Nipple, which tells the whole story.
Scout Willis, daughter of Bruce, is a voice of Free the Nipple. At a photography exhibition in London a few days ago, which showcased some of her photos, she wore a rather racy and revealing little dress.
Can you spot the nipples? And, if you look closely, can you spot her underarm hair?
How do you feel about creating freedom for the nipple?
If more celebs or their children get on board it could grow exponentially, and not be regulated to a once a year naked parade at AfrikaBurn.
