They say if you love your job you will never work a day in your life. I’d prefer to lie in each morning and get hand-fed breakfast by a bevy of beauties, but I applaud all of you who can’t wait to get to your desk.
Then there’s Puerto Rican taxi driver Victor Perez Cardona, who preferred to be behind the wheel of his trusty taxi even after his license had long since expired. Yahoo reports:
Honoring (sic) his final request, the body of the 73-year-old, who died of cancer, was propped in the seat of his taxi cab, hands locked on the wheel, as if to drive himself to his funeral. A wreath of flowers was in the back seat of the vehicle parked at the funeral home.
Cardona was said to be a popular man and funeral-goers lined the street to pay their respects:
“This is a funeral of the people. People have come from all over the island. Some climbed in the taxi with him,” said his daughter Generosa Perez Torres.
I don’t really like climbing in taxis at the best of times (unless it’s one of these) so I’ll send my regards from afar.
