These Guys Escaped From Prison – Shawshank Style – And Left A Cheeky Note As Well [Image]

Two inmates in a US prison have gone and copied one of the best movies of all time, resulting in their freedom. Wonder how long that's going to last for...

Looks like prison security has to be upped a bit at New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility. That, or inmates have been watching too many Prison Break reruns. Or Shawshank Redemption. Maybe both, to pull this off in real life.

The great news for New York is that two convicted murderers have escaped and are on the run.

According to the New York Times the two men managed to trick guards “using dummy bodies built out of sweatshirts while using mysteriously-acquired power tools to drill through walls and pipes”.

A search revealed that there was a hole cut out of the back of the cell through which these inmates escaped. They went on to a catwalk which is about six stories high. We estimate they climbed down and had power tools and were able to get out to this facility through tunnels, cutting away at several spots.

It is suspected that remaining inmates are covering for the escaped inmates. Governor Andrew Cuomo chatted with a few inmates, concluding that “They were heard, they had to be heard”.
Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34, very nicely left a note behind for anyone who was on their tails…
The note has been labelled as racist – but surely it’s just “a yellow square of paper with a smiling, bucktoothed face”?
