The New Bentley Bentayga 4X4 Makes Range Rover Look Tacky

Bentley have finally stopped playing tease and let us in on what their new Bentayga model is packing. We think you'll be be pretty impressed.

The 4×4 world has a new dog in town and Bentley aren’t here to muck about, their new Bentayga model turning heads and setting tongues wagging.

This one definitely falls into the luxury 4×4 / SUV range and if you’re driving a Range Rover you might want to look away now, what you’re about to see might upset you.

First let’s deal with what exactly the Bentayga is packing, these details courtesy of The Verge:

[It is] a 600-horsepower tank of a vehicle that’ll hit 60 miles per hour [97 km/h] in four seconds flat. The company makes it very, very, very clear that with a top speed of 301 km/h (187mph), the Bentayga is officially the fastest production SUV in the world…

Inside, customers can specify an array of wild features, including a refrigerator in the trunk [perfect for carrying two bottles of Pierre Jourdan MCC] and a custom in-dash diamond and solid gold clock manufactured by Breitling that is periodically rewound automatically by a system inside the car.

But how, I hear you wondering, will this baby handle the off-road duties? Looks like they’ve got this angle covered:

…besides the huge W-12 engine, there are cabin controls for selecting your surface, and a hill descent system that makes it easier to come down a steep grade.

Bloonberg also had some rather nice things to say about the design:

…the Bentayga now has sharp, aggressive features, such as four brilliant LED headlamps hung near the large diamond matrix grille and a serious skid plate in the lower section of the front bumper below the floating wing motif. There’s a panoramic window that covers 60 percent of the roof and silver letter Bs incorporated in the air vents, the wheels, the grill, and all over inside.

Bentayga comes with eight drive modes, each tailored to specific driving conditions and preferences. The idea is to cosset you in such a cocoon of luxury that you’ll feel at home in the Mojave desert and on Park Avenue.

Suppose we can substitute the Karoo and Houghton Avenue in there, makes it a little closer to home.

Time to feast our eyes on why car aficionados are chomping at the bit to get a closer look at the Bentayga. Gallery time…

Very easy on the eye there Bentley – not that we should be at all surprised by that fact.

The car is only expected to go on sale next year, which should give you time to start saving for that estimated £200 000 (R4,2 million) price tag.
