It’s no secret that we love Cape Town – you get that – but we heard you guys think we don’t love the rest of South Africa quite as much? Wrong – check this out.

Utter hogwash, we cry, we just like to make fun of you guys sometimes because banter is good and it keeps us all on our toes. Take KZN for example, what’s not to love about Durbs and the South Coast?

In honour of just how good you guys have it up there let’s take a look at the top five spots in the KZN where you can get away for less than R700 for 2 or more people. We get it, you don’t earn that strong Jozi rand, we could do with forking out less to treat ourselves to a little getaway.

    Bentley Estate 28, Ballito – R700 per night for a four-sleeper

    Bentley Estate 28

Bentley Estate 28 is the ideal choice for those looking for a beach breakaway as it is within walking distance of the beach.

The luxury retreat is situated a mere 6km from Dundee and approximately 65km from Vryheid, Ladysmith and Newcastle. They are also situated in the heart of the historic battlefields like Isandlwana, Blood River, Rorkes Drift, Elandslaagte and the Talana Museum.

Musgrave Avenue Guest Lodge, Musgrave Park – R650 per night for two people

    Musgrave Avenue Guest Lodge

Musgrave Avenue Guest Lodge is a renovated Georgian style building offering luxurious accommodation in three apartments.

All the apartments include air-conditioning, fans and heaters, clean bed linen and bath towels, and a safe for valuables. Onsite facilities include a common garden area, braai facilities, and off street parking.

    1401 Amanzi, Amanzimtoti – R600 per night for a six-sleeper

    1401 Amanzi

Watch the dolphins play and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean waves. Situated right on the beach, with easy access to the beautiful beach at Amanzimtoti, 1401 Amanzi offers stunning panoramic sea views.

The comfortable, fully equipped self-catering apartment feature excellent security, a pool, barbecue area, and secure underground parking.

See that KZN, why not hop in the car and get outta town for a few days when the mood strikes? If us folks down here in the Cape had warm ocean water anywhere near us I’m willing to bet we’d be there before you could say ‘frozen to our bones’.
