I imagine any environment that contains as many children as a school does must be highly stressful for adults, never mind those responsible for teaching said kids.
That isn’t really much of an excuse though for clobbering the living daylights out of a fellow staff member, something that is alleged to have happened at a Durban school. The principal is now facing disciplinary action as News24 reports:
It is alleged that the principal repeatedly punched the teacher after an argument ensued when the principal took pictures of pupils he found standing outside a classroom on Friday.
Speaking to News24, KwaZulu-Natal education department spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi strongly condemned the alleged assault.
“No matter what provoked him, we will first be analysing his actions that resulted in an educator being assaulted.
“This is never something that is acceptable in South Africa, let alone [from] a man who is meant to lead young people and staff.”
Mahlambi went on to add that principals should be ‘the model of peacekeeping’, which by definition probably excludes throwing a number of punches.
Play nice Durban, we know the Sharks missed out in the Currie Cup but that’s no reason to turn violent.
